Our last Cup road course race of the year from Watkins Glen with only 5 races left to get into the Chase. X-Men are also on the card, racing on Saturday. As usual, the schedule courtesy of MRN;

The entry list is at 44 teams and TJ Bell and Micheal McDowell are the ones on the bubble with fewest Owner's points or race attempts. Perennial Road Course Ringer Boris Said is on the entry list.

The weekend weather doesn't look too bad, although Sunday does have a chance of rain. Rain tires and wipers will be at the ready.

New and Notes
  • The brand new New Inclement Weather Race Procedures (Road Course Events) Rules are terrible. If the Race Director declares a "Wet" race condition prior to the start of the race, teams must start on "Dry" equipment, follow the pace car for 1 lap, make a pit stop and install the "wet" equipment. Why not start on "wet" equipment and start the race prepared to run in the rain when the R-D declares wet conditions?. I find it mystifying when Nascar comes up with this stuff.
  • Another new rule pertains to failing any of the untold number of inspections these cars go through prior to the first practice until the final post-race inspection. All Letters of Infraction are rescinded and all teams have a clean slate. It seems the new rule has instituted a demerit system for failed inspections. If a team accumulates 4 demerits for the event, they lose pit stall choice for the race or if too late in the event, it carries over to the next race. I wish the monkeying around would stop.
  • Remember when the Team Xtreme Cup car was stolen before the Atlanta race? The perp has pleaded guilty, sentenced to 10 years probation and a fine. This was his 4tn conviction and was a felon prior. Since the theft, Team Xtreme has bellied up.
  • Pocono TV ratings were down again, for the 9th time out of 10 cable races this year.
  • The Silly Season
    • Kurt Busch shook hands with Gene Haas on a contract extension.
    • Erik Jones will run XFINITY full time and some Cup races next year. It seems JGR plans for him to move up to full time Cup in 2017, but they are at the max of 4 teams, so someone has to go. Edwards, Hamlin, Kenseth, Shrubby - Who goes?
    • Lewis Hamilton, reigning Formula 1 champ, has said he wants to try out a Cup race.

The FL Pocono winner was wishbonekiller, his first :first: this year. Congrats, WBK!
FlaCowboy is still riding the range atop the overall leaderboard.
Make all your FL team changes before the race on Sunday and good luck.

Practice results - Bowyer was fastest in the first session and Gordon led the second.

Bad news for Smoke's already not so good season - The Ward family is suing him for wrongful death as a result of Stewart striking him during a dirt track race last year.

I agree, put on wet equipment from the start. Sounds like common sense to me. But we are talking NAS......

Another great update Humpty! :D

Thanks, Musky.

Common sense and Nascar - Is that like Naval Intelligence? LOL

I had to steal Humpty Back for a Nascar avatar. Since I can't get the whole car. :blue:

:high5:...

:suspicious: Did you have to use a green smiley?:tsk:

The Cup qualifying is over and The Dinger is celebrating by eating a whole big box of Cheez-its. AJ has the pole followed by Truex Jr., Stewart, Harvick, Gordon, Larson, Jr., Shrubby, Johnson, Dillon, Keselowski, and Allgaier.

The X-Men should be zipping around the track in the Zippo 200 shortly.

Logono won the X-Race followed by Keso. Buescher was the highest placed X-Man in third. Boris Said and Ty Dillon filled in the top 5. Dillon and someone else had a bit of a scrum after the race.

I don't know that I have ever seen Regan Smith quite that mad, but I do have to say Dillion's inexperience was shinning through today!

The race has started - lap 24 right now. The Biff just messed up his car, causing the first caution.

Any thing else going on?

Well Denny lost his hood again, he got into the back of someone on a restart and sheared the hood pins off, so the hood flipped up and over the roof, Denny had to dip down so he could see under the hood, NASCAR finally black flagged him, so his team strategically removed the hood but didn't pull the flaps, looks like by design they caused a yellow so they could bring back in and work on it. Now the 51, said, he does not want to run into the 48 again in this race because he is in retaliation mode and is threatening to spin Jimmie after Jimmie spun him!
