Nascar - Leave The Sulkies At Home, More Horsepower At Dover

Dover Downs switches to Dover International Speedway and the horse barns turn into garages for Nascar this weekend. One of the more unique tracks on the circuit, that's for sure. All three series are competing, Cup, X-Men and Trucks. More chances for the full-time Cup drivers to take more points from the X-Men and Truck regulars. :facepalm:

Only 39 entries for the Cup race to fill 40 spots. Weather is looking good for Thursday's Truck practice through Saturday's X-Race. Not so nice for the Cup race on Sunday with thunderstorms predicted all day. We need more rain delays like these races aren't long enough with the three heats. :blue:

News and Notes

• Really slim picking for news out of Nascar with yesterday being a holiday.
• Haven't seen any penalty notices for Charlotte, but Nascar is still in holiday mode and and forgot Tuesday is Penalty Day.
• Nascar loves these heats. There is talk of expanding some races to more than 3 heats, as the Coke 600, which was only announced to have 4 heats just 2 weeks before the race. MRN has the beef; http://www.mrn.com/Race-Series/NASC.../NASCAR-Notebook-More-Stages-More-Points.aspx
• A suggestion - Since Nascar is so points happy, why not wave an "End Of Segment" flag and award all the extra points while still green flag racing? In the old days the halfway race leader was given an extra point and the race wasn't put under caution to tote up points. They could do the same thing with segment points while still going full tilt. Fans want to watch racing, not endless caution laps. Also the 10+ minute segment intermission would be eliminated, which can only be good for the sport.
• TV ratings - 2.8 while last year was 3.4. Rain and segment racing eat up TV ratings!

iFL final results are still not up, but I'll make the award anyway with no segment caution. justkiddin 5 won Charlotte and has the proof. ​

Fantasy Live is open for picks, but last week results can't been seen. While you can, make any changes before the race on Sunday.

Qualifying results;

The Twerp is on the pole, followed by Truex, Suarez, Kenseth, The Other Kyle, Busch41, Jones, Keso, fresh of his Coke 600 win - ADillon, Hamlin, Dale Jr. and in the 12th spot - Stenhouse.

Rain is still in the forecast for Sunday, but not as bad as originally forecast.

Trucks just finished Heat #2 in tonight's race with Crafton winning, Heat #1 was won by Truex.

I didn't see any outsiders in a Truck race for once.
