Seems like we just did this one. Only difference is Trucks will run in the Overton's 150 while Cup is in the Overton's 400. X-Racers are in Iowa for the U.S. Cellular 250.

In a rare event, as in it hasn't occurred in years, Cup is doing same day qualifying at 11:30A with the Overton's 400 at 3:20P on Sunday. Also the Trucks and X-Men may have some TV conflicts. Trucks at 1PM on Fox and X-Men at 3PM on NBC with a good chance of rain for the X-Race. Any delay could cause some TV overlap. Sunday looks decent for Cup Q-ing and the race.

Only 38 teams have signed up for the Cup Overton's 400 race.

News and Notes
  • As mentioned in last weeks Indy race thread, JGR has suspended 2 crew members of the #78 pit crew for 3 races - Gibbs supplies the pit crew for Truex. After Truex and The Twerp wrecked last week, the #18 crew chief stormed into the #78 pit box and a verbal altercation ensued, most likely :censored: words were spoken which would offend us and scorch our ears. The question for me is why The Twerp's CC walked away unscathed? He shouldn't get away with what he did and Gibbs should have sanctioned Stevens.
  • Penske and Woods Brothers had a joint news conference this week and announced that Penske is adding Ryan Blaney as a full-time3rd #12 team next year and Blaney will run a part-time Xfinity effort with Woods Brothers. Woods Brothers also announced Paul Menard as their full-time Cup driver replacing Blaney in the #21. Keso also signed a Contract extension with Penske.
  • With Menard joining Woods Brothers from Childress, that makes an opening. RCR still plans to field 3 Cup teams along with the 5 X-Men teams, A Cup driver for the #27 will be named later. Kenseth? The silly Season is in full swing.
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr. is retiring into the NBC/NBCSN broadcast booth next year.
  • TV ratings for Indy - For NBC a 3.3 rating up from last year when the rating was 3.1 on NBCSN. 3.2M viewers this year and 3.3M viewers last year. 2015 rating was 3.0 and 2014 ratings were 3.4 on ESPN.

TB2448 is still leading the overall standings and added a few points to his lead.

Get your changes in before the Overton's 400 green flag and remember qualifying is Sunday morning if you use qualifying to help set your team. Good luck.

It's getting tough in Cup.

Target is leaving Nascar at the end of the season. What will the #42 team of Larson do when they lose the primary sponsor?

Kahne is losing Great Clips and Farmer Insurance at the end of this season. Even Monster is only a two year deal.

Will sponsor decals return to Nascar's roots? Could Murray Bros. Garage, Concord Radiator, "General Auto Sales 340 Spring St. N.W. Atlanta, Ga. LA-2125" or "Parks Novelty Machine Co., Atlanta, Ga." make a comeback?

From back in the day;

Bell won the Overton's 150 Truck race. Our friend The Twerp finished 25th, 24 laps back after winning the first two heats and wrecked 2 laps after the start of the final heat. I am so disappointed. :flame::violin:

X-Men just started at Iowa. Race is on NBC.

Ya but, he made the most out of the two races he had this year with a top level team, a 2nd and a win, so I don't think JGR is going to ignore in the future or any of the others are going to ignore him, he put a couple of good entries on his resume

I have no desire to see him get hurt again, I have had drivers I have not liked, but I sure don't want to see them get hurt. There have been a whole lot of nasty drivers over the year that were ruthless, Bush is just another one in the series. Some of the guys I watched in the late 60's and early 70's really something.

And lets not forget Dale Sr.! LOL There was a reason he earned the nickname the "Intimidator" and it was not because of how he raced when he got older.

The difference between Dale Sr and Kyle is Dale admitted when he did something wrong (even if there was a cocky undertone). Kyle always pushes the blame on others. Not sure I remember Kyle EVER accepting responsibility for an incident. When Sr. wrecked T Labonte at Bristol he said 'I just meant to rattle his cage'. Kyle would have said 'well he break checked me in the middle of the corner'. When Mayfield nudged Sr. out of the way in turn 2 at Pocono on the last lat Sr. said 'I would have done the same thing'. Kyle would have said something like 'well he had to wreck me to win'. Sure they were both aggressive, and I like Kyles aggressiveness, just not his attitude and unwillingness to accept responsibility. Hamlin is the same way. 99% of the time Hamlin blames others. I like Brad. Very aggressive but accepts responsibility when it is his fault. I would rather watch drivers like Brad, Sr., Kyle, etc., that go after it than to watch guys like Kenseth, Jr. (even though he is my favorite so don't hate...lol), Truex (I like him too) or others that are less aggressive. But accept responsibility when you screw up. Tha'ts all

One of Kyle's biggest problem is the shadow of his older brother, Bush 41 really gave the Bush name a bad reputation and Kyle acts like it is not up to him to fix it. Kyle can drive a race car and he has proved that, but ya, his attitude is bad, despite that I will never wish ill will on any of those people out there that do it week in and week out. Right now, Kyle is beating himself, he is the woe is me type, with the attitude, no matter what happens, I am not going to win, have seen it to many times in the last 40 years.

Arguably, he and Martin have the best cars on the track, followed closely by Larson, despite that and despite Larson and Truex wining, Kyle Just can't seem to figure out why Martin is winning and he isn't. DW used to act like that a lot when he was racing, and Junior and the Allison group didn't really care, they were going to run you off the track if they had to, to win that race. Davey Allison was a good race car driver and a nice guy to boot.

But people wanting people to slam the wall and such to me is not cool, Kyle is beating himself and will continue to until he is ready to stop loosing. Kyle is just always going to be one of those drivers that everybody loves to hate, despite that, I believe he has a lot more wins left in him, if not a couple more Championships. He actually reminds me a lot of Smoke when he was at the top of the field. Smoke used to push a lot of blame at other drivers and it was never his fault. That said, Smoke had a good excuse, coming from Indy cars in their heyday, remember those guys were the rock stars of American racing and they were prima donnas . Kyle reminds me of one of those prima donnas!

Agreed on drivers getting hurt. I love seeing Kyle and Jimmie crash but never want to see any of them hurt. They are still fathers, sons, brothers, etc., just like everyone else and nobody deserves to get hurt but like I said, I do enjoy seeing Kyle crash, especially when it is his fault, as long as there are no injuries.

Totally in sync with the above. I don't like The Twerp, obviously :D), but I only want to see his broken car, not his bones.

Qualifying is live on NBCSN now. So far Suarez is the top dog in the first round with 8 minutes left.

The Twerp has the pole, then Truex, McMurray, Hamlin, Blaney, Harvick, Bowyer, Suarez, Jones, Joey, Keso and finally Kahne.

You only have until 3:19P to set your iFL roster.

#33 Jeffery Earnhardt, who qualified last is moving to the back for unapproved adjustments. Huh?

Don't even finish lap 1 and Kenseth goes around with a bunch of cars crunching and plowing grass behind him.

Kenseth McDowell Buescher Almirola DiBenedetto Patrick Allmendinger Menard all involved. Stenhouse threads the needle and looks to be unscathed. #33 Earnhardt was far enough back to avoid the mess. A method to the madness? LOL

A great start!

Restart for how many laps?

The Twerp is pulling away from Truex. Just short of 1 second in a couple of laps.
