With 12 drivers remaining in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship, Charlotte is the place. A Saturday night race is planned if Matthew and the weathermen cooperate. Right now the Charlotte vicinity could be relatively dry and breezy, but if the storm moves a bit more to the West, all bets are off. Thursday looks OK for Cup practice and qualifying. Friday and Saturday are the question marks and while forecast conditions may not be tropical, rain bands from the storm are always a possibility. Trucks are off this week, returning at 'Dega.

Let's say it stays dry, so here is the MRN schedule;

News and Notes
  • A reward for the regular season champ? There is talk of the points leader for the 26 race season to receive some reward or bonus, possibly a bye into the 2nd round of the playoffs.
  • Dover penalties - 9 teams got demerits for failing various pre-race lasers. All 16 of the Chasers passed the post-race flashlight test.
  • Dover must have been one of the most boring races in years. Officially Truex won by almost 8 seconds or a third of the track and only 6 cars were on the lead lap.
  • TV ratings - The downward spiral continues, the lowest ratings ever Chase race. Is it any wonder that no Cup sponsor has been announced? Here are the last ten races, Kentucky to Dover;

StormChaser FlaCowboy winning over 64osby by only 3.5 points was the highlight of a :yawn: race. FC now has 2 of these :first: on his mantle. Congrats Mr. Cowboy.

For the first time in a long time, second place in the overall standings isn't occupied by TcS or Vertical Pedal. Sure TcS is still leading by only by 381 points, but FlaCowboy and 64osby scored big, almost 300 points more than TcS in a single race, pushing VP with only 8 points, into 4th place. 64 is now 2nd and FC is in 3rd.

One race can make a difference as shown by the points swing from Dover. Keep that in mind as you make your picks. Good luck.

Charlotte qualifying just finished.

Harvick is on the pole, followed by Bowman, Elliott, Shrubby, Stewart, Allmendinger, TruexJr, Edwards, Hamlin, Logano, Johnson, and Kahne.

Weather is still looking soggy for tomorrow and Saturday. It all depends on what the storm does.

This is looking more and more like Matthew's Revenge. All Friday track activity is cancelled due to rain with flash flood watches and the X-Race is now scheduled for 11 AM Sunday.

Atlanta Motor Speedway has opened it's camping facilities for Matthew evacuees at no charge.

Daytona has your back;

“Pictures of a past weather event at Daytona International Speedway have been circulating on social media during the storm. Those pictures are from a weather event in 2009. There was no flood damage to the facility from Hurricane Matthew.”

Daytona is closed Saturday and Sunday for facility clean up. So, can you believe 'em? LOL

If Cup can't run tomorrow, it will run about Sunday at noon and the X-Race will follow.

Mom is always right........ :)

Do you know how many times my mom posted stuff thru e-mail that was false? No research was done on the validity of the story. Receive something from a friend and pass it on like it was gospel....:facepalm:

Any time an email says to pass it on to everyone you know, it is passed to trash.

Same thing with FB. "If you agree pass it on, if you don't well........." I never pass them on....

They're replaying Cup qualifying on NBCS as we speak..

It's official. The track will have no on-track activities today. The Cup race is tomorrow at noon on NBC, followed by the X-Race on NBCSN.

The race is still a go for noon. Kenseth is going to back because of a part change. He was starting in 17th, now 40th.

Green flag is waving for the hurricane delayed BoA 500 under bright sunlight and blue skies.

A competition caution at lap 25.

First real yellow. Bowman running in 3rd, loses a right front and smacks the wall, collecting the #13 along the way. It looks like the #88 is done.
