Winston Cup (throwback week - a road race  ) at Sonoma and Nationwide at Road America are this weeks events. Cup is running the Toyota/Save Mart 350 for the first of two turn left and turn right races on the schedule. It's race # 15 and to date, we still have 10 winners with JJ in the lead with 3 wins, Gordon has the points lead and his one win. Boris Said, one of the most successful road course ringers, is entered. The first practice today was led by Ku. Busch. Qualifying is Saturday at 1:40 Eastern on FS1, naturally. The main event is on Sunday at 3 Eastern on TNT

The N-Wide Q-ing and race are Saturday. Q-ing is on ESPN2 at 1:40 and the Gardner Denver 200 flags off at 3:06 (???) on ABC.

Some news: It's being reported that Biff has or is about to re-up at Roush, there has been no formal announcement. His teammate, Edwards seems to be close to moving over to Gibbs. Rumors are that he will pick up the M&Ms/Mars sponsorship from The Twerp. Kind of a funny sponsor for a health-conscious person, but bucks are bucks I guess. It was two days after Sonoma that Roush finally officially said Kenseth was leaving, confirming weeks of speculation. Again rumored is that Monster will step up as The Twerp primary sponsor.

Stewart talked about Larson blocking him last, causing a big hole in the nose of the 14. Said Tony - He'll learn you can't do that. Stewart also had a tire go down in testing at Indy earlier in the week and hit the wall. No injury or re-injury of his broken leg from the Sprint car last year was reported.

iboats Fantasy Live: FlaCowboy continues to lead the league. He also won the week, but Smokin'! (aspeck) was only three points behind. The top three - Cowboy, osby1 (64osby) and Smokin'! are within 300 points of one another.

So make any changes, if you want or need to make. Please Cowboy - make some changes, drop some of those overrated drivers on your roster.

They need better wipers. No need for any bone tossing at Road America. They can't drive in the wet at all.

Nationwide ... It was dry. Then it was wet. Then it was dry, but not dry enough, long enough to change tires. Good race to the finish. Chase was in first, but all over the place and finished 4th. Lots of spins, bumps, in the grass, action all over. Yep, they don't know how to run in the rain ... Would be afraid to be around any of them on the highway during a rain storm!

I thought it was a good race. Tagliani sure made a dash for the front after running out of gas and switching to slicks. I don't know what good those herky-jerky wipers are. I know they don't race in the rain much. but a gift certificate to Skid School might help some of them. And maybe not! Good point about being on the highway with them during a rainstorm. Although I think I've been there with the way others drive in the rain.

I must say.....I thought it was a very interesting race, you want some excitement put a bunch of young guy's in 800 hp cars with locked diffs, on rain tires many have never even raced in the rain!

Years and years ago I had a street rod with a detroit locker 3rd member, car was only about 400 HP but was almost undrivable in the wet.

Thanks for the update, fellas. Sounds like I missed some good entertainment...... Apparently, non of them ever "played" in the snow....... You would have thought any dirt track experience would have shined.....

Street rod? carolina, do tell.... :)

It was a 1964 fairlane coupe........289 hi po, T-10 top loader trans, 4.56 gears with detroit locker, built for red light to red light runs, was painted 57' thunderbird burgundy.

The car was a blast......... got married at 18 sold the car cause she couldnt push the clutch in......She's long gone to make some other poor bastard's life miserable

Man..............I sure miss that car

I had a few I wish were still in the the stable. Except the '61 Corvair - Nader was right. If the swing rear didn't get you the fumes from the heater boxes would.
