Cup and X-Men return to Bristol for the first time this year. There may be an X-Race on Saturday and a Cup Race on Sunday or they may be delayed. Probably a better chance of the X-er's getting their race in with an afternoon start. If the forecast holds, Sunday racing may be soggy, if not hanging on until Monday with much less rain. Remember I am not certified by the AMS, NOAA, FCC, CIA, FAA, FBI or the Weather Channel. I only lick my finger and hold it in the wind!

News and Notes
- The latest team to be unhappy with the air wrenches is the team of Unhappy Harvick. He's still mad about poor pit stops and blaming the air guns supplied by Nascar. He also avoided an uncontrolled tire during a stop when Nascar missed it. Call him Mr. Lucky.
- Penalties at Texas - Chase Elliott's #9 got almost the same penalty as the Harvick team a few weeks ago for the same type of unapproved rear window support. Elliott lost 20 points, 20 Owner points and Crew Chief got a $50K fine. The difference is Elliott loses his CC for 2 races while Harvick lost his Car Chief. Wonder why in one case it was Car Chief and the other was the Crew Chief? Harvick also had the aluminum rocker panel extensions, so it would seem the #4 would have more serious penalties.
- The End Is Near 1 - The All-Star race will have 4, count 'em, four stages of 30 laps, 20 laps, 20 laps and 10 laps. What are they doing?
- The End Is Near II - Restrictor plates, big spoilers with 12" ears, cooling ducts and 2014 style splitters for the All-Star race. This is what the X-Men raced at Indy last year. Details on MRN - https://www.mrn.com/2018/04/11/star-race-format-rules-announced/
- Monster has extended Cup sponsorship for, hold on to your hat, one whole year through 2019. Nascar is the only major motorsport that I know of with year-to-year sponsoring. When will Nascar realize they are killing themselves?
- TV ratings - Related to the sponsor issues, Texas on FS1 managed a 1.7 rating and 2.82 million viewers, both more that 1/3 down. Last year was 2.7/4.5M viewers and 2016 was about the same, 2.7/4.3M viewers. The difference? FS1 this year and Fox the prior years.
