No more Nascar racing at Phoenix, now named ISM Raceway after Ingenuity Sun Media (ISM Connect) paid PIR for the honors. It was also renamed Jeff Gordon Raceway for his final race at the track.
The schedule features X-Men and Cup racing while Trucks are idle in the garage this week. From MRN, the schedule;
Once again a short field, only 37 teams for the 40 spots. Weather is dry as a bone for the foreseeable future. Dry Bones? FlaCowboy take heed. :lol:

News and Notes
- Harvick escapes the ax! After drivers and fans noticed his rear window was changing shape and a tear-apart at the R&D center following the Vegas race, an out of spec brace was found. The brace broke during the race (clears throat) allowing the window to bow, creating an unfair aero advantage. That was bad, but a rocker panel extension was also illegal, made of aluminum instead the approved Nascarium. Two violations and what does the team get? Hold out your hand for a ruler! Harvick lost his 7 bonus points, big deal - The Atlanta win puts him in the playoffs, so the 20 driver point deduct is also meaningless. 20 Owner points were taken away and the Crew Chief got a $50K fine and the Car Chief was suspended for the next 2 races. But the win stands in record books and Harvick still gets to stuff the big check into an ATM. On the upside, his win wasn't stripped giving The Twerp the win.
- Other penalties - Joey Gase had a loose lugnut for a fine and both X-Men and Trucks had no post-race inspection issues.
- Dale Jr. returns - Sort of. He begins his post-racing career with NBC by joining former crew chief Steve Letarte on NBCSN's Nascar America broadcast on Monday. Dale was in South Korea taking part in NBC's Olympic coverage. I wanted him to make a bobsled run, but alas, it didn't happen.
- Jeff Gordon has been nominated for the Hall of Fame, along with Harry Gant, Kirk Shelmerdine. Also John Holman and Ralph Moody of Ford motor mastery as Holman & Moody, are nominated.
- Race attendance has fallen for the 10th straight year. How many seats can be removed to to give the appearance of full stands?
- TV ratings - Good thing the Olympics are over. A 2.9 rating and 4.7 million viewers on FOX, down 19% in ratings and 21% less viewers from last year (3.6, 6.0M) and down 34% and 35% respectively from 2016 (4.4, 7.2M). It beat #2 Golf.
