Nascar 2018 Race #21 - Taking A Gander At Pocono

Split racing this weekend with Cup and Trucks at Pocono, while X-Men race at Iowa. It's been a while, but there are 40 Cup teams entered for a full field for a change. Weather is forecast to be rainy tomorrow and gradually tapering off and Sunday should be decent. The Northeast has been hit with a boatload of heavy rain.

• Bubba Wallace will get an extension and keep driving the #43 next year.
• TV ratings - 1.5 rating with 2.5M viewers. Last year was 2.0/3.2M and 2016 was 2.1/3.3M. Worst New Hampshire ratings in 20 years and lowest viewership since 2000. :blue:

Cup practices are finished and Truck qualifying done. Of course The Twerp got the Truck pole for his last Truck race this year.

Cup practice #1 the 5 fastest were #4-Harvick 174.956 #20-Jones 174.931 #12-Blaney 174.402 #11-Hamlin 173.826 #14-Bowyer 173.404.

P2 top 5 were #22-Joey 176.370 #4-Harvick 176.336 #78-Truex 175.404 #10-Almirola 175.193 #48-Johnson 174.744.

4:05 is the pole pick cut-off.

For Truck fans - Noah Gragson has a stomach virus and isn't cleared to drive his truck today. Erik Jones will be warming the seat in the #18 Twerp team truck.

X-Qualifying from Iowa is over and Cup just finished.

Harvick has the pole followed by The Twerp, Suarez, Larson, Joey, Byron, Hamlin, Jones, Keso, McMurray, Elliot and 12th fastest, ADillon.

Iowa X-Race is about to start.

Cup Post-Qualifying inspection - 11 cars have failed with 15 to go. 5 of the top 7 flunked. Wonder what new cheat raced through the garage?

Suarez is now the pole sitter and Hamlin moves up from 7th to 2nd. Tuesday will be an expensive day for 11 or more teams.

Christopher Bell won heat 2 and the X-Race at Iowa. Custer took heat 1.

On the Cup front, more fallout. More than 4 hours after Cup qualifying, the failed cars are trying to pass inspection. Some twice, some thrice and some more. Points, fines and crew members are being tossed out on their keisters!

Have fun roster picking for Pocono today. When 5 of the top seven qualifiers have their times disallowed for flunking inspection along with 8 others and are starting at the back, what is an iFLer supposed to do?

The last time post-qualifying was used at Chicago, 3 teams failed. I guess some of the 13 teams at Pocono figured they didn't push the envelope enough at Chicago. As a Nascar spox said - 27 teams were legal, why not these 13?
