Name Removal

I want to remove the name from the fiberglass boat that I just purchased- any tips on the chemicals to do so???<br /><br />I do not want to mess oup the finish underneath,... and simple scraping will not take it off.<br /><br />Thanks and FISHON!

Hair dryer to soften it up. Then it will scrape off using a plastic scraper that won't mar the gel coat.<br /><br />Option 2 bumper sticker remover fropm the auto parts store.<br /><br />BTW I'ts bad luck to change the name of a boat :eek:

Not really. Its bad luck if you have an existing name and you change it. But its ok to get another boat and name it of what you called all your others.<br /><br />Yes hair dryer would work. I wouldn't recommend the scraper because it might damage your fiberglass :eek: <br />JAZZ ;)

Wal-Mart sells a product in the marine isle called "Sticker-Off" (or smething to that affect). Says to use hairdryer like above and then this stuff is supposed to dissolve the sticky stuff without harming the finish. Never used it myself, but I saw it yesterday.<br /><br />Good Luck

hairdryer worked for me, along with a dull scraper and fingernails. Lighter fluid for your zippo works amazingly for getting off excess glue, just apply with rag and after a moment to soak- wipe off. Now you are ready for rubbing compound and elbow grease.

'Goo Gone' available at Wal mart and elbow grease worked on mine
