Name for connector “nut”(?) for fuel line to fuel pump nipple

Replacing aluminum fuel line with braided fuel line. Looking for proper name of the “nut” need to connect two ends. Green circled part is old connector. Red section needs to be joined by same sorta nut. Like an extended, wider nut. Trying to do a search with more accurate name.

That connector looks like this if so,
I’m replacing the OEM solid line (discontinued) with a braided line. Connectors are different. I think I need a barrel nut like this.

i cant tell whats up but if its like a car go to vatozone and get a 72" brake line repair line it will have flare nuts on each end. get the size you need 5/16 or 3/8 or etc.
then go to harbor freight and get a pipe tube cutter and pipe flare tool and a tube bender.
then make whatever line you want.
i dunno about boats but on cars solid lines are good.

1978 Mercruiser 140, serial number 3873776. Going from a solid line (see pic) to a braided line (see pic) New line needs nut to connect fuel pump nipple to braided line end. circled parts are different. I think I need a tube nut, or barrel nut, to link the two.

No. The braided line supercedes the older version of the solid line. Got it directly from marine supplier, who’s been helping with all the parts.

Ayuh,..... Then these folks should be able to sell ya a 1/4" pipe, to 3/8" female flare, 90* brass elbow,......

Well marine supply had no connector so went to a hose and fitting place. No such thing as a 90’ to female. So this is what they put together. (Pic 1) Seems like a lot of weight would be cantilevering off the fuel pump. I wonder if I could have a pro cut the old coupling on ff and transfer it to new fuel line? (Pic 2)

If you are cutting the steel line and flaring, it has to be a double flare. No matter if on a car or boat or airplane.

Any good hydraulic shop has fittings
I went to a huge hose and fitting shop, a warehouse with every conceivable fitting, and they do not have the simple, 90’ bend with a female end. Can’t find anything online. Brought all fittings and this was the only solution

I'm not positive myself on the size of the thread in the fuel pump, but going with what Bondo says as it being 1/4" thread, then you would be looking for a: 1/4" male pipe( NPT) x 3/8" inverted flare 90, which is what that link will take you to. It is the fitting Bondo mentioned in post #10

hey there, thanks for the reply. No, those won’t work. The place I went to has those. I need a 1/4 male to 3/8 inverted female pipe size, which is how they are listed apparently. As for threads, it would be a 3/8 thread, male, to a 5/16-18 female inverted, which is not made. I’m gonna have to go with their set up, or find an old, rigid, original fuel line that is in good shape.

yup get a flare tool from harbor freight is what i said i totally agree
Looking at it closer, I don’t think there is enough pipe protruding past the braided section to cut and re-flare. Gonna go with set up they figured out. Really no more joints and weight than old system, just looks different.
