sorry, can't help, I don't wanna go back probably for similar reasons you might not want to. Not much anymore but still once in a while I wake up in the middle of the night and, ya know? I sure don't need to refresh my memory any by going back.

I have no inclinations on going back. The only good part of being there for 14 months was 3 day R&R in Vung Tau and 7 days in Hawaii. Besides, I don't need to spend 24 hours on a plane to end up seeing the jungle.

I know a few who have and their comments were "what a nice place now"......

I would personally suggest to fellow vets to spend their cash on other things and trips where nice memories can be made. If someone is seeking closure that badly.....they might need a Doctor.

I'm not a Nam guy - but, I know from experience how that war effected many. For you guys who were there, many thanks.

There is a older guy in the news last month which was on an air plane ready to take off and come back to the USA after a visit. The North came aboard the plane and took him off and was tossed in jail for fighting against them during the war.

Edit: Forgot to mention, many thanks for your service. WWII vets spent on average 10 days in combat per year, Nam vets spent over 200 days in combat per year. Thank you and may god protect you and yours

Edit: it was Korea

Not totally positive, but wasn't that in Korea?

Re: Nam vets only.. Go back?

My Tours did not involve Viet Nam, but I spent time in Panama, Grenada, Afghanistan, Iraq and a few other places I still can't mention, 20 of my 26 years in the military were spent in zones that people were shooting at me, one did hit me. I have no desire to go back to any of those areas. If you have misgivings now, then a trip back to Nam is not what you need. I have no problem with those guys that feel the need to visit their former theaters of action, but if you don't feel the need, then say no and don't go.

Your right it was Korea, planned to edit this morning. Least I got the combat days close. Nam 240 days, WWII 10 days

Glad to here, I missed the news cast

That is for the Pacific Theater.
The European Theater as i read it is 150 day's average. The reason for more days in Nam is because of the Huey being able to transport troops. In WW11 the only means was by foot for the most part.

Return to Viet Nam not high on the bucket list...Too long a flight...Too expensive...I have Vietnamese customers that beg me to go back and see it now. NVA much easier to find now.LOL

Nope, wouldn't want to go back. Would not want to see what they did with what we left behind, besides it's been too long.

I can't see the reason to go back. There is so much to see in this country.

My Dad has been fortunate enough to go all over the World since his 3 tours in Vietnam, and that is to this day the one place he has no interest in going back to.

I am the Proud Son of a Vietnam Veteran.

Thank you to those that served.
