Mysterious part in bilge - what is it??

I found this part in my bilge. It seems to have cracked off of something.
Anyone know what it might be??

It is called a piece of Distributor Rotor

Yup, part of a rotor from under the distributor cap.

Looks Mallory to me, bakelite n such

Prolly dropped from a sloppy tune up at some point. Mallory caps from a half generation ago had issues with machining, cylinder lead tangs were off center causing rotors to break. This may be a possible leftover from that Era.

in summary piece left over from old tune up. throw away. It's amazing what disappears in the bilge of a boat.
