Doctor visit result:
Surgery is set for Oct 27th to repair femoral artery aneurysm. That's a different aneurysm than the one I knew I had. General anesthesia ( I'll be put out) with a hospital stay of about 4 days. If all goes well, a second surgery will be scheduled the following month for the abdominal aneurysm. I'm just taking one step at a time for now. I've got to be honest in that I do have some anxiety about all of this, being as I've never had any type of surgery or been put under before.

I've been a long time member here but a rare poster as of lately. Please keep me and my wife in your prayers.

Well Tyme2fish, Prayer are coming your way. But honestly, you will be in and out before you know it. And being put under anesthesia is like blinking your eyes. One second you're talking and the next you are waking up. It is that fast. At least to you it will be. I had a few hours hip replacement and the anesthesiologist said "I am going to give you something to relax you" (IV wise). That was the last thing I remembered and then it was like I blinded my eyes and I was awake in another room and the nurse was saying wake up it is all over. And my brain thought it can't be. I just was talking and it is over now... No way. So don't worry. It will go great.

I'm creeped out by that stuff too. I've been under twice in my life and that's plenty for me.

Will certainly pray for y'all Tyme. Miss your more frequent posting ... it's always been some of the most enjoyable prose :)

Tyme2pray ... will do, sir. Oct 27th is on the calendar as a day to pray for Tyme ... The going to sleep isn't bad at all, and when you wake up it will be all over. Glad they were caught and you can have the surgery to take care of things. Last thing I remember the anesthetist saying is night-night...

As others have said, it will seem like no time has passed at all. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. :)

I went to the hospital today for pre-admission and to have blood drawn and a chest X-ray. During the question and answer session with the nurse she asked if there was any possibility I'd been exposed to the Ebola virus. I replied, "No way. Heck, I don't even watch Tarzan movies anymore!". Thankfully she got a laugh from my answer.

Had to donate blood today, and I was asked the same question ... didn't have anywhere near the quality answer you did though. :)

I can only speak for the going under part, it's an amazing thing so try your best to feel it happening, I tried.... IMPOSSIBLE.
It's like a time/space machine one second you're wide awake and the next you're in a different place & time, truly a very cool experience.

I asked my wife who knows everything & she reckons they either put tube on the inside & outside (stents?) or do a cut & shut using an aftermarket hose.

I have the opposite happening with a blockage and they wanted to hook up some aftermarket hose to a good feed from my heart & run it down teeing off to each leg but I figured I'd wait for better alternative like a human draino pill.

Another story from my visit at the hospital today. I needed a chest X-ray I guess to verify that my lungs are in good enough shape for the operation. With my back towards the machine the gal took the X-ray and I heard a little chuckle from her. She commented that the outline of my beard was visible in the X-ray.That's when I asked her if my X-ray looked like Achmed The Dead Terrorist. Score another laugh from the words of Tyme.

I'm having the portion of the aorta (femoral) that is damaged replaced with some sort of man-made tubing. So I guess that means I'm getting the cut and shut performed with some bilge hose.
