Attached you will see a pic of the cockpit sole of a boat. This is not my boat, but mine is identical, I just didn't have this pic!

In this pic, you will see a floor hatch surrounded by a red circle.

sole.jpg

When this hatch is removed, it leaves a gaping hole in the sole which drops approximately 3'-4' to the bilge liner below. Great storage area.

You would think that with the hatch removed, a person who has owned this boat for 4 years would realize there is a giant hole in the floor and not blindly step into it with one leg.

You would think...

Re: My turn to tell on myself

Nothing that can't be walked off in 1-2 weeks.

Slammed right knee into the deck on the way in.

Left knee into the deck on the way down. :(

Head into the ladder.

Pulled a left groin muscle.

I was busy winding docking lines and moving to hang them on the ladder, looking up at the stereo remote to see what CD was in. Just not paying attention. I just guess I'm lucky I didn't break a leg, or worse...break anything on the boat. :D

For me the sad part is your on your boat and I am still a couple weeks away so I envy you!!:D

Sounds like the biggest injury was your pride though

Re: My turn to tell on myself

Perhaps we should take this moment to reflect......

Lets talk about the discussion between your brain and your foot.....I am guessing it went something like this...

Brain to foot- "don't forget the Hatch is open...Copy?"

Foot to brain- "Hatch what hatch?"

Junk to everyone-"THE F@#$%^&G HATCH OH CRAP HIDE!!!!"

Re: My turn to tell on myself

Well look at the bright side bud.....you have more beach then both of us combined!!

Just without the water:D

We have two HUGE rivers...the Tigris and the Euphrates. Part of the Tigris is diverted into the palace area here on base, (Saddam liked to see water too) and we fish from it quite often. The only boats that get onto are the R/C type though. Anything else is ummm...not welcome. The Tigris runs right through the middle of Baghdad, and if it wasnt so freakin polluted, it might be beautiful...We can drive to part of the main channel and ride along side it for about a mile, but you dont dare sit still for long. Too exposed. Persona non Grata.
Cant wait to get back to the Hiwassee, Ocoee, and Tennessee rivers...all within a few minutes of my house!

Fireman...you check out that winery I mentioned in that other thread? That might help ease the pain of your "recovery".

Not yet. The only wine I'm involved in right now is whining about my pulled groin muscle. However, self medication (Absolut/lemonade) seems to be helping nicely. It's still hurts the same, I just don't seem to care as much.

Stop trying to compare your rivers to ours! We have boats, and fish, and booze...but you get the luxery of being shot at. In all seriousness, be careful & keep your head down. Oh, and bring me back an ear...

Fireman, you will be fully healded and reocvered by the time I am done "summerizing" my boat heh. I did something similar back when I was framing houses. I laid a sheet of subfloor down over the incomplete stair stringers. Needless to say I had a quick trip to the outhouse (basement) after bouncing off a few unfinished stair stringers.
