My SUV is dying....Can I tow with my accord?

After 11 wonderful years, my 4runner is losing the battle and it is going to be put out to pasture. I know longer have the need to tow a trailer (RV) as I know have a camp (Cottage in Canada). I have a 70's 15 foot runabout with a 50hp evinrude. I only have to tow this into the water twice a year and tow the package about 100 feet (yes feet). Will i be able to do this with my 2002 150 hp Accord?<br /><br />Thanks.

I believe the Accord is rated at 1500 lbs. Check with your Honda dealer to be safe.<br /><br />Bob

You won't have a problem. I towed a 1,800 lb. boat and trailer with a 1987 Accord. It did 3 mile trips without a problem. I also did a few 100 mile round trips with it.

towed my 1985 18' dixie with 120hp johnson with a volvo 850 for about a year and had to replace the tranny ( no cooler). <br />So what I'm saying is: I would put a trnny cooler on the car to be safe (that is if you have an automatic tranny).<br />Most cars/truck are under rated when it comes to towing.<br />I germany I have seen people tow horse trailers with bmw's, audi's and vw's. <br /><br />My $.02

Did I understand right - 2 times a year you will move boat 100 feet? Is that ALL the towing you will be doing? Is this just to put boat in/out at your cottage? Could you just borrow a truck from a neighbor 2 times a yr? I've seen dealers move boats with a heavy duty lawn tractor. Might get pulled into lake when launching though Perhaps hooking a come-a-long from a tree to lawn tractor. Then you could cut grass with your tow rig. <br /><br />BL...

Have a 95 Accord LX (4 cyl) and tow a 14ft alum with 20 merc and gear, about 1200 lbs total. Make a trip to Canada once or twice a year, 1400 miles, with no problems. No trans problems or excess oil consumption. <br />You will have no problems.
