I thought I would make a quick run out to the marina to drop the boat back in between rain storms and take a little test ride. Did my normal of adding about 4 feet of slack in the winch strap and backed it in deep enough for it to float off and drift back a bit. Then I hear the wife saying, the boat is floating off and their is no rope on it. SO I jump out of the truck and sure enough the winch strap has came off ( looks like the spring loaded latch must of been in the wrong place ), so I striped off me shoes and shirt and I was lucky enough to be able to walk out the lower walk way and grab it, only ended up waist deep and the water felt nice, :D Got it pulled back to the landing , and when and parked and took a nice little ride, Well ok now thats out of the way lol. only one witness so it wasn't to bad.

I hope so too. Hopefully the wife will let you live it down. :) ( I learned long ago to attach a bow rope & tie it off to the dock while boat is still on trailer.)

I bet you won't repeat that mistake. Many of us have done the "swim of shame" just be glad it was warm when you had to do it!
