Good morning all.

On August 26, I made my first post on this wonderful forum requesting help for my sick Ford 302 engine (1973 Skiff Craft, 888 Mercruiser). Below are all of the posts relating to this quest in chronological order, just in case anyone wants to see how the process evolved.

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=004040

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=003987

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=004279

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=004320

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=004335

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=004352

So after nearly a month of head banging, soul searching, knuckle busting, and creative swearing, yesterday was the day for the "boat-in-the-water-live test".

I am happy to report that the engine runs like new! Literally ,better than it ever has since I have owned the boat, which has been about 7 years! It's putting out around 4100 RPM's at WOT,which is right on spec for my setup. The engine is smooth and powerful through all operating ranges and it starts and idles perfectly! :D

I just wanted to take a moment to share this with everyone and to express my heart felt gratitude to all of you who provided me with the tremendous knowledge and friendly encouragement, without which I would never have been able to
complete this project!

Many thanks and kudos to: snapperbait, erie_guy, JasonB, McKenzie, airman, Dunaruna, chris in va, Rhadley, Rice, boat doc, kenimpzoom, Northern Eclipse, Richard, fka****, merc 140 pontoon, Captain HooknFinger, and a special tip of my Skiff Craft hat to Boomyal, who really hung tough and provided many critical waypoints on this grueling journey! If I missed anyone, it is merely an oversight!

In a world which seems to get colder and more impersonal everyday, it's very comforting to find a safe haven such as this forum!

Warmest regards to all, crt.

Now after all of that, alas, it is time to quietly trundle up the recovered patient and send her, lovingly into winter storage. Life sometimes, thru it's twists and turns, has it's way of robbing one of savoring his moment of glory. :(

Not so boom :p

I'm headed for Lake Erie in the morning for a week or 2 of R&R. Might head over to Superior via the Detroit River. Frankly, the test hop yesterday was all of the reward I needed. Never so sweet was the sound.

Regards, crt.

Hey Dunaruna: If you can help me find a gig, I'll move in a heartbeat! Maybe the Crock Hunter needs a extra hand, but I don't do snakes!

I'm not kidding though, I'd make that move! Endless summer man...

Regards, crt.

Livin up here in rain country that sounds down right invitin Dunarauna! But Dunaruna! Somethin crazy has gottin into my Aussie brothers head. They took away your guns. I'd love to come on down. But I couldn't bring mine with me. And that'd be down right inhospitable.

Boomyal, I like my fish hooked, not shot (even on these bamy winter nights) we don't need guns - anything eadible is protected or small enough to trap. The cops take care of the rest. Good fishing. Aldo
