My one and only gripe about winter

Re: My one and only gripe about winter

That is one of the beauties of living in AZ-clean cars. I felt the same way, living in MN- the salt and crap was unbelievable.

I wash every vehicle, once a week, minimum (my vehicles are perfect). But, I do not need to use soap, or scrub.

Just a rinse and towel dry, plus I have to have clean windows, using Windex.

Our only issue here, is dust. And very little of that. :p ;) :D

Re: My one and only gripe about winter

I used to have a Dakota, with the same topper, same color green, but mine had gold in the center of the body. Loved the truck, I though it rode nice, looked great clean, but I hated the 15mpg. I could drive it like I stole it, 15mpg. I could drive it smooth gentle and loving, 15mpg. The drivetrain in any Chrysler product I'v edriven in the last 10 years has sucked! And fuel economy has been sub-par too.

i have a white vehicle now and agree it needs to stay clean. I try to wash mine every week or two, depending on weather. Now that I have space in a heated auto repair shop, I'll wash it and park inside to dry over the day and won't nee dot worry about how cold it is outside.

Magster, pretty truck, nice color too :D Please tell me you're smart enough and considerate enough to turn the fog (moron) lights off and the headlights on when you drive it, at least in traffic!

Fog (MORON) Lights

A truck, is a truck, MPG is going to suffer with ANYTHING that can actually carry a load, instead of carry a bunch of "loads" around.

Re: My one and only gripe about winter

Being that it is winter I see about 14mpg, summer I get 16mpg.....

1. Now its flipping cold out so it kills the mpg in anything.
2. We have re-formulated gas here. My truck doesnt like it, pings sometimes with it even.
3. 4x4 is a LOT of extra weight

I agree with DJ

the beauty of livin in florida is that during the coldest part of winter it still makes into the 50s or 60s. Ice is for your drink not the roads

My fog lights only light up the ground directly in front of the truck and they don't cause any glare to oncoming motorists, if they did I wouldn't use them. Really though, it's my truck and I'll put them on any time I feel like it. The fact that you 'blanket' everyone that uses their fog lights as morons is ridiculous. That's the dumbest thing I've read in a while.
Hey, I have a 'baby on board' sign in my window too. That must be another indication of something... right David?
That's amusing about the fuel economy. My truck gets... you guessed it, the same mileage as yours did no matter how I drive it.

Re: My one and only gripe about winter

I wish I wouldnt have missed that thread in my year of absense from this site........

I am considering taking my air dam off and cutting out some fog light holes and welding a couple brackets. maybe mounting some driving lights along my front bumper in front of my grille.

To anyone who thinks that Fog lights or driving lights are unnnecessary obviously don't drive in fog ever nor do they drive in country areas with lots of deer. If they are properly adjusted they won't blind anyone. I think I just helped hyjack my own thread. Oh well I find this an interesting subject........DISCUSS AWAY!

Mag- I like the truck, and yeah white can be a pain to keep clean. I LOVE the chrome bed caps

Thanks Pony. It's never been dirty :)
I made those caps out of 1/8 polished aluminum checker plate... bought some aluminum strips from the metal-mart's scrap bin. Then I took the strips down to the sheet metal shop and they bent them up for me (for a 6-pack). Then I cut the ends to contour the box. Grand total... about $40.

David, Are you exclusively talking fog lights or are you also referring to OEM white driving lights which are factory fitted in the bumper on all 4 of my cars. (Which only work with the headlights on.)

Good point about the underbody wash.........Only way to get the salt off of everything down there, where it builds up the most.
