Good day to all my boating friends.I have a NS40C nissan outboard that starts and runs well. the other day when i started it up to run it, it started great and when i put it in gear i heard a small clank and now the prop wont go into gear. I dont know much about the nissan outboards. COULD i have broken a shear pin! or is there somthing more major going on? Help please I NEED HELP  Thanks

No shear pin. You could have damaged the clutch and/or associated gears. Does the shift rod operate the cam rod?

At this point, there is likely damage inside the LU. Pull the prop shaft housing and inspect the clutch and gears. Could be a stripped B pinion, or a damaged clutch and the associated A and C gears,
