Hey guys, just want to say I love the Starcraft forum. I been reading the forum and checking out restorations for over 10 years, and just have never posted. Using the great info on here my brother and I painted his 14 foot Starcraft constellation 10+ years ago. When I was a youngster my uncle had a 22' 1986 islander I/o and from then on I was hooked on Starcrafts. Years ago I talked my brother into buying a 1978 18' ss and it was an awesome boat. Finally the time has come that I was able to pick up my own rig. Recently I picked up an 18' 1970 holiday with a 1975 85 hp Johnson. The weather here has been miserable so I haven't even been in it at all since I brought it home. I'm itching to really check out the inside. It snowed the very next day and now we got crazy wind. I know the Starmada likes pics, here are a few.

Something is strange here, that is the older steering style, early 70's?, but that swoosh is '78/79.
Do you have the a pic of the SN plate?

I'm told the compression test resulted in 120 psi at all cylinders. The PO wanted to perform compression test in front of me but I was in a hurry. PO says it pushes the old girl 40 mph. I had a 6 hour drive round trip and there was some unforseen variables causing the rush. I was willing to take the chance.

I'm a novice when it comes to outboard knowledge. What is the pros vs cons to the way the steering is set up?

Thanks for the replies guys, I would like to figure all this out also..lol. DL I posted the sn plate in the other thread that you responded to, are you asking about something different? As far as the swoosh I'm guessing your talking about the paint. The PO found a pic online of I believe a late 70's holiday and tried to copy the paint job off of that. I'm told it was repainted last year.

I did a HIN lookup of the one listed on the title. The HIN is not an original factory HIN. From what I can tell the HIN was assigned to the boat in 1982 by the state of Delaware and listed as a homebuilt boat. The title states it's a 1970 holiday. The sn on the plate seems to align with it being a '70. There is no HIN on the outside of the stern. Do you guys think with that style steering and the windshield design that it could be a 1970?

OK, the repaint comment makes the swoosh make sense.
The plate you posted matches another I have that's listed as a '68. (that I posted on the other post) The lowest '70 plate I have is 913316, so I suspect yours is a bit older than '70.
The steering, we have the same steering on our '70, not sure what years it was commonly used.
You might look through the catalogs (if they are still available) to try to find any matches of details.
Not sure if it helps but here are the pages for the Holiday 18 for '67 and '70.
There are small differences, look close. (the file name starting with "page" is the '70.)

Nice boat.
I like the paint scheme.
Mine is solid olive green.
Looks a little too army for me. But if I did some graphics/accents like yours in black, I think it would look pretty cool.

DL thanks for the brochure pages. I will check them out. Sounds like you're leaning towards mine being a '68 by the serial #. Sorry, I guess I misunderstood the first time. Glad you had that info on the plates, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I really like the paint scheme also. Berdink I agree, I think green with black accents would look pretty cool. I was looking at another Starcraft before I decided to go with this one. The other was a 79 SS that had the same graphics but was orange with white accents, I thought that looked pretty cool as well. I will have to poke around the forum and check your guys rigs out.

The inside could definitely use some tlc. The only thing I know of that should be replaced soon is the throttle cable. I'm hoping everything else is cosmetic but I will find out for sure in the spring. The rear pedestal seats need replaced according to the admiral, she doesn't like the duct tape on them. :D.
