I've been wanting a McKee since I was a lil kid...and I just got one!
needs lots of work been sitting under a while but I got it at a super deal
its a 1987 17' offshore fisherman with a Johnson 88 SPL
I'm really excited and my 4 yo boy is ready to help!

I've always thought McKees are pretty cool, too. How's the motor? I understand that the SPL's are thirsty but really tough.

I have a '88 17S Offshore McKee with a '88 90hp Johnson. They are tough little boats. You will find the motor is a little underpowered (at least I think so). My 90 gets it up on plane when loaded well enough but needs more top end. Mine GPSs at 30mph at 5600 rpm and cruzes at 20 mph @ 4000 rpm. It sucks to travel at 20 in the intercostal when it is plenty smooth for 40. My motor is falling apart as I would expect having spent the last 25 years on the coast. The worst part is not that stuff is braking, it is that every screw brakes when I try to fix it. I am looking to repower with a 115hp.

One thing I recomend you buy, smart tabs. They completely change that boat.

PS - consider the 'Offshore' name optimistic at best. That hull will beat the snot out of you in slight chop. It is better with the tabs.

wow that center consol is not very mechanic friendly!
i'm going to take the tank. Out and clean it a rewire every thing behind the dash
