Hi, All.
I just picked-up a Tohatsu M35B.
Looks good, sounds good and shifts smoothly.
It has electric start, but pull starts easily as well.
I didn't get a chance to lake test it.

The previous owner says it setup for 12 years
so the first order of business will be the
water pump and lower unit oil.

Also, I checked ebay for a service manual and
didn't see one for my motor. Any other
places to check?

Also, the tank hose is broken. Can you
recommend some places to buy a new one?
I was thinking a tohatsu connector on the motor
side and a johnny/Rude connector on the tank side.
That way , I can share the same gas tank with my
Johnson. Btw, I will be getting rid of the old johnson soon.
Need to free up some space.

Thanks,
jasper

The motor looks clean. I would lube the cylinders, replace the impeller (at minimum) and service the lower unit. Since it has sat up for a long time I would lube all linkages and pivot points, disassemble clean and grease the starter, run it double oil for atleast the first tank and then change the spark plugs. The broken hose is no big deal. The clamp on the fitting can be pried off with a screw driver. If the hose is still good, just slip the fitting back in and use a hose clamp. I run all my tanks with Evinrude ends (walmart clearance $1 each) and the other ends to fit the motors on the boats (Johnson, Honda, Nissan, and Mercury).

walt,
yea, the paint looks really good. Just a little dust on her.
Thanks for the tip. I'll get her ready over the winter.
Also, thanks for the cheap fix on the gas hose.

If you treat it right, it will last a very long time. I have over 35,000 hours on my 1992 30A3. This year is the first time I had to do anything to it besides routine maintenance. The engine still runs like a top. I use it for commercial fishing and usually keep it running about 12 hours continuous a day. So far, being resourceful, cheap and shopping around for $400 it got the lower unit rebuilt, water pump replaced, carb rebuilt, motor mounts replaced, pivot bushings replaced, new paint and now has electric start and is no longer tiller drive. I had to do all the labor ,of course.

The Rustoleum Metallic #7251 Cobalt Blue Metallic is a real close match on the paint if you need to touch anything up.
