Hi, when i troll or use my motor at low speed for a while, and then when i give it some fuel to get on a plane sometimes it sputtlers and and hesitates until i rev high or hammer it for a while and then it goes away.. I cleaned the plugs replaced filters and stuff, I am almost wondering if the carb is dirty but why does it go away ? anyways to clean the carb do you have to have a kit or can you reuse the old rubber parts ? thanks

What model is your motor? Yes, if you want to clean the carb, it must be removed and completely disassembled.

If that's a 2 strokes engine you can idle for long time periods, but eventually when giving more gas will hesitate a bit for a short moment and then get going. That's due because at idle speed the plug tip temp is less than the ideal temp when at higher speeds. Oil tends to foul tip. But that's normal. That's why is good from time to time to go for full grip as you were stealling the combo for plug tip to increase it's temp and get done with it.

Sputters should go away after a good carb clean, but those small hesitations will continue. Next time you idle for long just throtttle to 1/3 grip, let engine hesitate, once tip is warmer and hesitation has gone open throttle to fast speed or wot for some minutes. It's a kind of idle me long, but wot me too hate love engine issue.

Happy Boating
