my first boat

i just bought this boat it'a 1977 areo craft.it has a 302 ford 188hp model no mcm888 sn 4655579.my guestion is how do i know if i have a closed system or a open. i have an overheat problem and before i can fix it they tell me i have to know what it is.<br /> thank you<br /><br /> kenny king

well all i can tell you is it has no raditor cap. but operation and maintenance manual that ame with the boat say's you have to put in 17 qts of anti freeze. but there is no place to put it in.<br /> thank you for the repy

Kenny,<br /><br />I would seriously doubt that your 188 has a "closed" cooling system.<br /><br />Ahhh, Aerocrafts, they were built in my hometown-St. Charles, MI. My family knew the owners family very well. They later became Brownings and then Thompsons.<br /><br />The founding family went on to build Michicraft canoes.

kenny<br />If you put antifreeze in it it is a closed system or you will be killing cats, dogs and fish. A closed half system will have a heat exchanger on it. 17 Quarts of antifreeze sounds like way to much as that would be a 34 quart system with a 50/50 mix.
