My first boat....help where to start?

My first boat she a 18-19ft 1979 SunRunner. I think she would be called a cuddie cabin, shes not a bow rider.. she has a small block chev inbd and OMC out drive... Hour meter shows only 500 hours. I don't know anything about her history other then she look really cool... She been setting for over 5 yrs out in open and hasn't been in the water sence then... Where do to start? Oh she didn't cost me a sent.....

Welcome, rbynh. Fear not, she will cost you many a cent. If there is anything that all boats have in common it is that they cost, and cost and that they demand endless hours of labor.<br /><br />I would say that you start by finding and fixing rot in the hull supports, floor and any furniture aboard.<br /><br />Next would be getting the engine running reliably. . . Thanks for the info... We have already remove most of her interior and have orded the cover for sidewalls and seats... we have dicied to do most the restoring our selfs to save as money as possable.

As J B suggested, you had better make sure your engine is in good running condition before you spend a lot of time and money on the boat. Otherwise you may find yourself with a splendid boat but no motor to push it.
