October 5, 2003 was fishing in a lagoon with live anchovies when this big, i mean, really big fish took the bait. It was a tarpon. Almost six feet in length. Had to be at least 125 pounds. What a battle on a wallmart $59.95 spining rod. 20 pound line. he was so heavy i couldn't lift him to take a good picture. If you want to see the pics give me your e-mail and i'll send them to you.

By the way, i'm the guy with the red shirt. The other dude is my fishing partner. We call him Captain Pachi Chaar. He really loves to fish these tarpon babies.

That is one heck of a nice fish. I would say you were fortunate to land him on 20lb test. Ok dumb question, I am a guy that never fished for these things and was wondering if you can eat those monsters? Talk about a fillet!!!

Ahhh.... The very illusive (to me anyway) Silver King...

Congradulations Bouner, that's the catch of a lifetime... :)

Flahthead, their basicly a trash fish when it comes to the dinner table, but the fight is unbelieveable...

Re: My first big fish

They fight like if their life depended on it. I thought I was going to loose him when he took almost 150 yards of line in his first run. We had to chase him with the boat at first, at maybe 15MPH, trying to get some line back into the reel. Honest to God I was really lucky because the 6/0 hook was grabbing him by the outer gill, this putts a lot of pressure, and takes him breath away pretty quick. I say within 35 minutes I got him tired. The big problem was getting the baby onboard my Montauk, when we finally did we celebrated with joy :p and took some quick pictures.

What can you say but "WOW" with a catch like that..Good thing your young cause i don't thing this ole ticker could take it..

Shame on you Link.."Eatn a Musky" ..Just the thought makes me want to run for cover at the curse that may follow for even thinking about munching down on the warrior :) ....Its bad enough when I catch a a non musky on the 6000 and the cleansing ritual I go through to put things back in order. Where are you at where this highly sought Tiger warrior is held in such high esteem?

As LadyFish would say "OMG"... :D

Congrats on the "Big One", that's a dandy!

Probably Mayfield Lake, a Cowlitz River reservoir in Lewis County Washington for the Tiger Musky.
The largest tigers in Mayfield Lake are now over 30 pounds, and these fish were planted as fingerlings in 1988.

Re: My first big fish

Bouner, beautiful fish, but I am a little concerned with your friend. Does he make a habit of sleeping with your catches?
