First thank you for those who helped earlier.
I'm grateful...
Here is my experience w/ motor so far.Any insight from you would be appreciated.

1. Motor runs 2nd pull. However; it is rich and carb pools a 1/2 tsp of gas at mouth of carb as it runs. The low spd screw is a 1-9 knob. I see no hi-spd screw, so I assume fixed jet.
I also assume this is probably a float issue. What do you say?

2. When throttle is twisted, circular assemby rotates under flywheel and eventually contacts little black lever on carb butterfly.
I'm guessing that timing is advanced and retarded a little when the thing rotates. I also further guess that the motor is stopped by twisting to stop which retards the timing. Am I wrong here?

3. I see no stop screw on throttle linkage to adjust idle stop. Am I missing it?

4. Finally I had concerns that I had run water pump dry; but after putting motor in bigger bucket; water sprays out gently at idle and more spray at speed. The spray looks like my garden sprinkler that rotates back and forth.
Would you say that means the impeller is functioning alright?

Thank you much for your thoughts.
-br

Howdy Ranger.

1. Sounds like a float adjustment or inlet needle problem.

2. You have correctly figured out the ignition/carb interface. It does sound like you may need to do a linkage and synchronization adjustment.

3. No idle stop. You need to be able to kill the engine by retarding the throttle.

4. Sounds like your impeller is functioning, but that does not ensure that it is undamaged.

Good luck. :)

Hi again

As earlier pointed out, you can pull the plastic knob from the low speed needle and adjust it properly. If it leaks fuel out of carb its probably flooding, due to crud in floater valve. remove bowl, clean everything and try to adjust low speed needle. Get a new floater needle and seat if any wear on needle rubber tip.
