My Doctor friend or Dr.s aren't as smart as they think!!!

Around 1990.I lived at a marina and had been drinking buddies with a Dr. who bought a boat from the dealer where I worked.Bayliner 1988 28ft 460/King Cobra.
I was entrusted to maintain his boats.
One of his Dr.friends decided he wanted to maybe buy the boat.They take off for a 3hr cruise(nothing good EVER comes from a 3 hr cruise).They never came back that day!
Next morning I'm on my way to work,I notice the boat was in it's slip.The whole bow pulpit and rail were hanging off the stbd. side.The port and stbd. hull had major scrapes and a hole,big enough for your head.The canvas was ripped and there was blood and margaritas all over the cockpit!!Lots of vomit!!!
Turns out the drunken Dr.s decided to go to Annapolis City Dock for drinks and dinner.
They get to the harbor no problems.The new boat owner decides he wants to dock the boat alongside the bulkhead.
Bad move!!! He gets confused and ends up docking the boat ON the bulkhead.Damaging the boat and attracting the local police.
They try to arrest the driver and he gets belligerent and the other Dr. says you can't do that, the mans a DOCTOR!!
They both get arrested one for DWI the other for interfering with a police officer.
Educated or just a good ol? boy????

Drunks come in all shapes and sizes, glad they were stopped before they killed or harmed others. Myself, I like a drink or 2 but ONLY at home where I can barf and pass out w/o harming others. Havent done that (get sick) in at least 10 years, but you never know. Glad they were caught, and glad they didnt hurt anyone.

Have a doctor friend who, in college, tried to wedge a push mower in the back seat of his parents car to try to drive around and make some drinking money mowing lawns.
Why he didn't use the trunk nobody knows, but he spilled gas all over the seat.

Worried that his parents would be furious, he thought he'd flash burn the gas out of the seat cushion to remove the evidence, like you might burn a puddle of alcohol on a table top.

Except it wasn't alcohol, and it wasn't a table top.
Gas and foam seat cushions don't mix well...


So, no, common sense is not part of a doctorate program..

Book smart does not equal street smart. Mix in alcohol and all bets are off. My cohorts and I, as well as alot of other people got away with some amazingly stupid stuff in our teens and early 20's. Somewhere in the mid 20's my stupidity rate dropped steeply. Fortunately luck was on our side.

Thanks for the laugh. As one that works with many doctor's, this was very amusing. Truth is, doctor's are just like anyone else (don't tell them that) and there are some smart ones and some dumb ones.

As well...I don't allow alcohol on my boat and I never drink and motor. Then again, I ain't no doctor.

Aspeck, you have given me an idea for a great business opportunity. I can start a "school" to teach common sense. I'm thinking electro shock therapy to correct unwanted behavior. LOL. I wish there was such a place, I know a lot of people who could use an education in common sense.

Yes, but who had to clean up the vomit?
They'll just pay the lawyers, and pay for someone to fix the mess and might not even think twice about it.

I?ve just spent a 30 minutes in my office with an irate couple who came in to collect their new car.
I admit we made some errors in the handover mainly due to lack of communication on our part however, however, the husband made a comment that beggars belief......

He said, pointing to his wife, ?She?s no ordinary woman you know, she?s a doctor?!!

Knocked me for 6.

I guess I should have added.Maryland got on the BWI bandwagon the year before.The Dr got chewed up in court.
Fines and all came out of his pocket $7000 repairs too.Ended up about $14500. Damages to the pier and boat.
I guess women Drs must pee a special way???Don't know what makes them so special???
He cleaned up the puke with a hose!!!

One of our local "Lake Rats" is a very well known & respected expert in his surgical field, yet he drinks & parties as much as anyone.
He has a brand spanking new 37ft Sea Ray-a old ski boat-an old bass boat and a new 300HP jet ski. On the lake he is a regular guy.
