I think its a 68 anyway, cant find a serial number or tag on it so far. Thats what the title says tho. Any help finding it and the model of the boat would be greatly appreciated!!! From what I can tell it might be a marlin/skier? Still has some of the duradeck on the floor! and the rest of the boat is in pretty good shape been kept outa the weather mostly it looks like!

Thanks Ryan

Looks like a Neptune to me.

That's pretty cool, it's just a smaller version of my Orion. The '68 date looks good too as it's outfitted just like mine (Duradeck, wood dash etc).

I can't say for sure your outboard is a '68 but it's right around there.

Looks like she's had a few features/modifications over the years. :p

Awesome! and yeah I the motor is actually a 69 on the title, But who knows it might be original the boats been taken pretty good care of, There was a bag full of brand new motor parts and the tiller handle in it:eek: The boat came from NY some people moved out here and there was some loss's in the family and a lady had a guy sell if for her.

But whats your guy's idea's on getting it back to original as possible ? I think I'll take it out later today and hand wash it and pull the rotten floor out and start there :)

You definitely have the Skier. The only other 14 footer at the time had no splash decking in back.

Most of your duradecking looks good. I would take a piece from where it's peeling and take it to get paint matched. Touch up the bald spots and nobody but you will notice. :) I stripped all of mine off due to LOTS of abuse, weather and peeling, but I do NOT recommend it at all unless it's absolutely necessary.

oh man!!! I'm so excited !!! Thats cool as heck!! I've been working on this thing this morning. I do plan on leaving all the duradeck on it since its in such great shape!! What do you recommend for cleaning it just soap and water? I may take a little bit of comet to some on the underside of the gunwale and see what it does.;):D

Yeah, even a soft bristle brush with some soap...that Duradecking is very tough. Keep us in the loop with pics as you go! Check out my Duratech resto vid on line, it's lots of fun and takes you from junker to in-the-water. May provide some inspiration.

Yeah I seen your video on my phone last night, I couldn't fall asleep and was researching the Duratechs some more and came across it! Very nice restore! I love your boat and the colors you chose also! I would go with the same kind of colors but since the duradeck is good I'll go with blue/white! And more pics. are on the way!!!

What my Dad did, and I've contined is wash the deck with Comet and a brush, rinse well then when dry follow up with armerall.

It's worked for us, hope it works for you.

Re: My 68 Duratech

Thanks! I was kinda thinking comet would take off a lot of the grime and bring the true color back, I've got the seats and floor out and power washing the floor bottom out now. I'll post more pics when i get that done and scrub all the duradeck off :D

Re: My 68 Duratech

Got the seats and floor out, Took forever to get all the dirt, debris and foam pieces out. Mostly just laying under the bow for over an hour cleaning crap out sucked lol. Still a lot of little stuff in there too. I might clean off the floor a little more before I install new decking just for my satisfaction :) And there is still some stains on the duradeck but its looking a lot better washed the bow twice with comet. Looks like there may of been a light mounted in the center of the bow at one point? Looks like there is some heat marks around where the center cleat is now. The peeling on the duradeck above the dash looks like someone set a light there and melted it away also....

Can't decide what to do now, either going to paint all the white again with like a white with blue pearl maybe? Or just go ahead and do the floor and seats and paint later on. Definitely going to do something with that motor cover soon tho!!!

Re: My 68 Duratech

As for the red lens, you may want to post this in a more general section here on iBoats where tons of folks will see it. The other place is a great forum for classic boat owners callet the Classic Boathouse: www.theclassicboathouse.com I'm registered there as 'JoeMan'. They have a lot of knowledge and skill sets there related to classic boats. You may want to register there, post a pic and ask.

Man, I'd have those 'smokestack lightning' stickers off of there pretty quick - LOL. Peel and then use some goo gone. :)

As for the hull...the paint looks to be pretty smooth and adhering well. If so, then just scuff it well with some 220 grit and spray over it. I think the white base with a slight hint of aqua gets it close to original.

If you need any assistance / ideas as you go, just post here and let some guys help.

Re: My 68 Duratech

Yeah the name is definitely going, just thought I'd share it in original form haha Would of got to that today, But I HATE peeling stickers. Seems like I do it all the time! lol I've found that a steam gun works great on most stickers, and window tint, it doesn't always get the glue. But if you can get the edge up you can normally get it in one piece! Thanks for all the help Joe ! Have you got the PM I sent you? Just wanted to double check the year surely its a 68 tho. :D

Re: My 68 Duratech

It looks to be like the PO might have left line coiled around the cleat up front. I guess it could be from heat but that's where the cleat came from the factory, and it looks like a factory cleat.

Heat guns makes quick work of those stickers, a hair dryer works as well, just a bit slower.

The logo/foot pads. They may look dryrotted but if they're like mine then they're still really servicable. I'm not sure what they looked like new but there may have even had a bit of a "textured" look from the factory. I dont' find mine to be crumbly at all.

The front marker lamp, that's one of the first things replaced on my my boat. My dad used to go out in the salt water a handful of times a year, he said that the marker didn't make it but a few years.

Just a suggestion, where the duradeck is pealing, I would go find a peice of 1/4" mahogany ply (or similar wood), scribe it in to the wind screen and just cover the whole top dash area. I think that would look pretty slick. Just finish it with spare varnish and fasten it down with stainless fastners. On that note, the wood dash on these boats finish up really nice. Just a little sanding and then like I said spare varnish. I'm not sure what the wood is, they don't tell you in the brocher, they just make it sound exoctic. :p

On the paint, try polishing compound, or rubbing compound on the tough stuff spots and then follow it up with a coat of wax. Rubbing compound works really well to get the dark spots off where it hits dock bumpers, just dont go to crazy. The real color of the hull is white with a very light teal/blue tint, they're pretty sharp when they're all cleaned up.

Looks like you are doing a good job!

Re: My 68 Duratech

Thanks! and duh lol I never thought about the rope being there and leaving marks from the sun haha.

And I might bust out the buffer later and see what I can do with this paint. Thats a good idea I'd like to put fresh paint on it. But I'm just a broke 22 year old. I might end up sleeping in this thing:D
