Hello gentlemen,

I bought a 1955 5.5hp for $25 and plan on attempting to get this oldie running I hope. There is a small diameter rubber line that goes from the top to the bottom cylinder that is cracked and likely needs to be replaced. First, is this a vacuum line or a line related to fuel? Second, does anyone have a part number for the rubber o-ring for the shift rod seal or an o-ring size that would work?
Thanks for your help!!

That o-ring is very common.-----Still installed in 2007 motors as well.----Local boat shop would have that o-ring in stock at about $4 or $5

btw is the gc getting water ??

if not no need to mess with the GC do pressure test. if it holds pressure and vacum it is ok . just do the impeller carefull with the brittle carbon seal on top of the drive shaft .

the book CHEAP OUTBOARDS is a good one and covers the 5.5hp
