hi gents ! it might be helpful for others ...

since the end of last season i experience low waterpressures on my smartcraft gauge but zero other issues . 2006 240 sundancer , 5.0 MPI B3

no overheating at idle or WOT , no alarms .

the pressure is as low as 0.5-0.7 psi at idle and below 3 psi at wot .

i changed the impeller with no improvement .

pump bad ? bravoitis ? where to start ?

i phoned to mercruiser germany directly and after begging they connected me to a technician engineer.

he said :

- the numbers i tell him are roughly 3 times to low
- minimum is 0.69 kpa or 10 psi at 4000rpm for my engine with bravo drive
-with that low numbers i should have an overheating and alarm for sure
-bravoitis in fresh water is very rare as long the entire drive is not severly corroded .
-bravoitis is mostly an issue sitting for years in salt water and high sea temperatures
-bravoitis is even more unprobably if the engine throws plenty of water in the transom area being at muffs

he recommended the following :

-unplug sensor and switch on ignition . do you get an alarm with two beeps? yes i did , so the sensor is connected to guardian for sure and the system works correctly after a
self test .

-TAKE A MECHANICAL GAUGE AND CHECK THE REAL PRESSURE

...bingo

i have 0.05 bar or 0.7 psi at bare idle on smartcraft

and 2.5 psi at bare idle on the mechanical gauge

reving the engine show pressures to spec at the mechanical gauge and way to low at smartcraft .

the sensor itself fooled me !

for people with low water pressures but no overheating :

check the real water pressure with a mechanical gauge before you replace pumps or install a thru hull pickup !

youre relying on a $7 gauge sender that is known to have problems

Well known for the SW pressure sensor these. Should have alarmed and put a guardian mode on though ?

the fitting into the servo cooler is 1/8" .

guardian throws two beeps immediately with sensor unplugged , with sensor removed but plugged guardian does not care even when it of course reads zero all the time , at least at idle or reving the engine up to 3000 rpm out of gear . no idea why this is the case but it IS the case.
