:grumpy: I have a 15hp Nissan and sometime I have to put it in neutral and rotate the prop a bit to get it to go in reverse. The bevel gear is not lining up with the clutch all the time so I have to turn the prop a little for the clutch to engage. It always goes into forward no problem. Any advise?

Are you shifting it when the engine is not running? They are not designed to be shifted unless the engine IS running.

true, didn't think of that. I don't see how you'd reach down and spin the prop, shift at the same time, and manage to keep your fingers if the engine was running.. surely his problems are when not running. Start that baby up and it'll work right!

If shifting testing while engine is off, turn flywheel CW while shifting. Remove safty lanyard as engine could start....

It's normal. As Elvin noted, the motor must be running to shift, especially into Reverse.
