Congrats! Amazing accomplishment. I would love to follow in your footsteps as I could stand to drop about 50 pounds myself. Odds are against me though as I have a sedentary job, love food, and have absolutely no willpower.

Wait, you mean common sense nutrition, portion control and exercise help you lose weight and make you healthier? I've been doing it all wrong!:p Joking aside, that's outstanding Eric. You should be very proud. I think you deserve a reward. How about one of these? http://www.cobaltboats.com/v11/our_boats/373/index.php

Re: My 15 minutes

Awesome! Congratulations to you! I am in the middle of the same type of thing ... beginning of May said enough was enough. When I lost enough to get on the scales I was about 290. Goal #1, 230 by the end of this year (I am 12 pounds away right now). Goal #2, 190 or less by October of next year. Want to do it slow and with lifestyle changes ... eating right, controlling portions, and exercise. Great feeling of accomplishment.

I used to be able to drop weight fast ... but then it would come back on, and as age increased, so did the ability to drop weight. Being behind a desk all day didn't help. Just got out of control.

Anyway, good for you, Eric! You did it, and I CAN do it, and AM DOING it also! (I meet goal # 1, wife promised not to give me any grief about the Elk Hunt I am planning for October 2011 in Colorado).

EZ, I love to eat also ... love to cook, too. Also very sedintary with vocation. But, I have learned to cook some really need high fiber dishes, and, well, I had to overcome the excuses that were making me heavier. I had to want to do it for myself. Not because anyone else wanted me to do it. (Elk hunt only helps a little ... like when I am hungry for ice cream ... ice cream or elk hunt, ice cream or elk hunt ... let's go elk hunting!)

Great job, Eric! You look like a completely different person! I'm going to have my wife read this. She's a personal trainer, and what you did is exactly what she has her clients do. Funny thing is, I'm about 15lbs. over my comfort zone, and she can't get me to the gym. Like ezmobee, I have no willpower in this field.

Duh. All he has to do is tell his wife the money they're saving on food can now go into the Cobalt's gas tank. Problem solved. You underestimate me.;)

So, I talked to the wife about rewarding myself with that Cobalt. She says now that I plan to live longer, I'll have plenty of time to save up for that boat! Somehow that didn't work out as I planned....

Those wives are pretty smart that way ... I was talking about the elk hunt already and she knew I was going to go, so she says, "Hey, if you hit your goal, I won't bug you about it and you can go have fun!" Somehow they always come out ahead of the game ... if only God hadn't made them so beautiful, and us so stupid! ;):D

Great story, I wish you continued success. I have lived the issue through family members who have struggled to lose weight and keep it off, and the plan you follow has always brought the best results. Keep up the good work!

Wimmin. Whataya gonna do? Congrats on the weight loss. You sure look happy. Great job.

For the rest of us: It's amazing what even a little bit of change can do. About 3 years ago, the plant where I worked closed the cafeteria so I had to start packing lunch and could no longer get my regular mid-morning sticky pastry. Around the same time, the lady who always kept a jar full of those little 1 inch candy bars retired. Over the next 8 or 9 months, I lost about 15 lb.

I used to live down in Newnan, actually East Coweta, so I was spitting distance to Peachtree City. I hear that the fishing on that big lake in PTC is choice, but if the police catch you there and you don't have a PTC address, they fine you. Now I live up in Forsyth County, bout 10 miles from Lanier. Do you ever get up this way?

Re: My 15 minutes

Way to go my friend, way to go! I am so envious. Takes me weeks just to lose 5 lbs.

I can attest to the changes in body chemistry from weight loss. At 5' 8" at 210, my cholesterol was high, my blood pressure was high, the good cholesterol was low, etc.

So I drop down to 179 and 6 months later blood work shows that everything is right smack in the middle of "normal" for my 51 years of age.

I still take the cholesterol medicine, and started taking vitamin D due to a severe deficiency showing in the blood work. Don't know why, might have been the diet, but I will take it until the next blood work.

I am currently struggling to get down to 165 (my weight at age 30), which is my target. Will keep working on it.

Thanks for posting your results, you are very inspiring to folks like me.

Regards,

Mark.

Re: My 15 minutes

Wonderful! I'm 65 and have lived my life that way. Sensible food and activity have always kept me within 5 LBS of my ideal weight; so I know this works and you too can do it.
