Re: musky

Ahhhh! :D One of my favorite subjects.

Time? When you can go.
Bait? Whatchagot.

Seriously, the best time for catching more muskys is late Spring. The best time for trophys is Fall.

Spring muskys like smaller baits, like Mepps Musky Killers, Spinnerbaits, 18cm. Rapalas, DB-3 to DB-5 Bagleys, noisy surface lures. Most medium to large bass crankbaits work pretty well.

Fall trophys like large meals. . .so large that trolling makes more sense than wrenching your back tossing fireplace logs.

Good luck. Now until late October is the time for the trophys. :)

Re: musky

See you on the Moon River, nikk. Look for a two-tone brown Sylvan with a Honda 90 on the back trolling a 12" meatball sub from Subway around Bear Is in October.
Actaully, I'm headed up to Simcoe today just to toot around. Probably camp out over by Big Chief Is. Where are the public boat launches in Barrie?

Bass and Stripper- spring and fall
Musky - dead of summer, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Go for 'em when nothing else will bite and get the big-'uns that are lounging around just waiting for a big ole piece of food to go swimmin' by!

Re: musky

Indiana State record muskie (50 some pound) was just caught on the Bar-Bee Lake chain near Warsaw, IN., one of my faverite fishing(catching) spots. I went to the library today and checked out some books on muskie fishing, you might want to do likewise. I've learned so far that muskie are the largest member of the pike family, they have alot of teeth and can be fun getting a large one into a small boat.

ah musky fishin one great passtime my best time is late fall when I have time to personal fish. I prefer huge spinner baITS OR real big meeps with bucktails I prefer to cast (yes at the end of the day im beat) but I find that when trolling I need much heavier gear and it just sint as much fun

Re: musky

Just got back from Piedmont and spent two days huntn for these warriors..i figured I spent about ten hours to catch three..biggest one 42". Big killer Mepps (Red and Black). As JB and Milo have said fall is prime time for the trophys.

Alot of these warriors that have stayed deep during the pressure months are coming to shallower water to feast. Patience and heavy rigs are needed..no sense in using a pooter rod and catch one only to lose it by not having right equipment..Its the follows that drive the bug out me..to seeem that close and not strike..I swear they smile at me as they turn away..good luck...
