1990 Johnson 150 GT (6 cyl 2-stroke)

When I got it it had a Raker 14 1/2 X 22 X3 blade which is pretty beat up. Its ugly and I doubt its doing the lower end any good.

Moved the engine from a 19' 6" Kingfisher to a Sprint 277 (17' 6") (My hull rotted, his engine threw a rod.)

I have (in the process of replacing a bad hull) acquired an Apollo 14 1/8 X 20 X 4 blade (993205) Looks new, but missing the hub adapter.... and a 14 1/2 X 19 X 3 blade in pretty good shape (looks like an OEM prop off the hull's previous Johnson 130 and it fits the 150)

So:

OK Idea to run on the 14 1/2 X 19 X 3 for a while and try to get the adapter for the very pretty Apollo?

How hard is it to get that adapter (looks like it just slides in and has 4 "key slots") and is it slide in or does it have to be pressed in?

The hub for the Apollo should be readily available, and should fit using your fingers to install. It uses a Mercury Flo II torgue hub. Make sure to get the right one for your motor, as they are probably not the same for Merc and Johnny.

How did you old boat perform with that 22" P prop? I would have thought that a bit too tall for it. It is worth trying the 19P prop and note the max RPM. I would think the Apollo would work, but it is best to test it.

The old hull didn't have a working tach... But it got 50 mph by GPS with the Raker (beat as straight as i could get it at home... its a sad prop)
This was an appx 2500 lb boat, 3000 lb total for boat motor and trailer.

New hull is lighter.... 2000 lb for boat motor and trailer.

the Apollo was on the 130 that came off the new hull and previous owner said that did right at 60 before the engine blew up (VRO fail), but the hub center just crumbled when I removed it. The stainless prop itself looks like new condition.

I'm been using pre-mix 50-1 with the 150. I've seen and heard of too many of the VRO fails taking out engines.

I've already been told the lower end won't last a lot longer (probably due to the prop)... but the local boat repair place says run it till it won't hold oil then he'll do a lower end with a bulletproof warranty.

OK, that hull must be much lighter and faster than your typical 19.5 footer. I run a 19P on my 21 footer w/150HP Johnny and she doesn't see 43MPH.

One very nice running 1990 150GT :) the Kingfisher sure wasn't light. (now its shredded into a landfill. I watched the dozer run over it.)

Got the hub center for the Apollo prop... Haven't got it into the water with it yet.

Apollo is a HUGE improvement from the (ugly) Raker. Jumps up on plane from a hole shot.
Bearings in lower end getting worse so avoided going above 5k rpm.
