muffs

how can i be sure if the muffs are positioned or working properly? i covered the intake and am getting a constant stream from the pee hole..

got a stream from a couple different places.. the overboard indicator( which i assume is the pee hole) 1 right in the front of the motor square slot above where the lower unit meets the mid section and one out of a hole right in front of the intake holes..<br />i am starting with a decarb and working from there... next will be drain the l/u and checking for metal shavings again after one run... <br /><br />nother question:: the two square panels on the mid section held on with 4 bolts.. what are they, should water come out of there?

There are two rubber shock dampers behind those plates.There is also a cavity drain in the same area on some engines.The other small holes you mentioned are cavity drains.
