Yep, this afternoon heading into the setting sun I ran up into a flat Ive known for twenty years. I manually cleaned the intakes and initially the pee stream was close to normal but then it slowly died down to a trickle. It improved a little when I was home using the lower cowling flush hookup, the ear muffs about the same. There is nothing blocking the pee site to site and probing. On the way in (I had no choice) the gauges were reading normal water pressure and temperature for the twenty minutes or so. My understanding is that the bulk of the water outflow is thru the prop so my gauges should be true. The sound of the engine and smell of the exhaust was the same as always. What should I do short of paying someone to tear it apart....Thanks Mark

markdpm
Being mud it should clear with a good industrial cleaner sent thru your earmuffs then flushed out. Take 20 to 30 minutes for this to allow total flush (as long as it doesn't overheat). The other problem could be that the impeller is partially caked in mud and this could require stripping if the flush fails. Try something that breaks down the hardness or in other words softens the water. This may help.
Ross

I used to take the pee hole thing out of my Yamaha and clean it too. The plastic tube is usually larger then the plastic piece where the water exits the motor. All it takes is 1 granual to block hole and it will look like you have no pressure.

Thanks Gentlemen, but I still have a question, if the gauges are reading okay pressure and temperature then should all be fine. And could I apply some water pressure down the pee hole to flush out the clog backwards so to speak, would this damage any seals etc. Mark

Hey Markdpm,
It won't hurt anything. I generally try to use compressed air back through the pee hole to clear obstructions. It generally works too. ;)
Backlash
