MSD 6M-2 Ignition Module in place of Merc Electronic??

Has anyone tried replacing the Mercruiser Electronic Ignition with an MSD 6M-2 Ignition on a 7.4L (1990)???

Used MSD in all my other performance cars. Just wondering if it was worth the cost in a Runabout?? Maxum 2400SC 7.4L/Bravo.
