Mowed my grass today!

Well it was a beautiful sunny 81 here in S E Texas
It was already time to mow the yard it was starting to get a lil crazy lookin!
I am so glad i don't live where it snows....i dont know how you fellas up north do it...I almost couldn't handle it when it was 21 here a while back!

Central Texas here. I'm going to try to get all of the autumn leaves off the back lawn tomorrow before the new grass starts to come in.
The front lawn is already showing new growth after a bit of rain this week.
I heard tomorrow may be in the 80's.

I hate mowing grass. It takes away boating and fishing time. I have only seen my yard twice since Thanksgiving. Besides, around here, you need a chainsaw to cut ice away from the ramp to launch your boat. Of course you won't go far once you do.......

Well I shovelled my walkway and driveway today and the temps are a balmy -10C (14F). The snow was getting a little too deep to walk in. When I finished that, it took me 10 minutes to clear the ice and snow off the truck so I could get to the store for milk and bread. Sure glad I don't have to cut the grass just yet because I am allergic to it.

Don't know how you southerners can tolerate all that heat. I've been to Florida, Louisiana and Texas and its just too hot for me.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

We Northerners also don't have to deal with 30 to 40 days of +100 degree weather, you can always get warmer, you can not always get cooler.

I actually have mad references in posts of years ago when I perform the "first cut" of the season here in VT and it always has been close to the 2nd week of May. So, I am good for the next two months

For me being on the water when it's +100 is about the same as boating in the winter it just doesn't happen. Now if there was ice in the water and it was +100, maybe

in my mind it does have to do with boating.
if yer having to mow the lawn, the lake is likely to be water. so you can go boating after yer done cutting the grass.
if yer using a snow blower like some of us. the water is likely hard. boating just ain't an option yet.
myself. we just got done with about 5'' of snow. might be followed by rain/ice/snow mix. that's a bummer. but imho. i'd rather have 4 seasons. love spring and fall. summers great too, but will say, there's been a day or two i've not gone boating because of the heat. to much heat sometimes just takes some of the fun out of it.

boating season is coming to us snow bound folks soon. i'm looking fwd. to it.. hope fuel costs don't ruin my fun..

grass is under 2 feet of snow in MA. but when it comes time for mowing grass, ill be boating...gotta love renting an apt.

We have never had that many days of 100+.....ever, here. We did reach 100 once in the 1930's.

Although...... if you can't handle 90-92 on a daily basis for a couple months, then that would be a problem.
