Moving at the end of the school year to Beaufort SC. Got a public ramp 500 ft from the house so I am hooked up nice.

Funny thing is, the few times I have been to the area, I have not seen a lot of recreational boaters. Where are the good spots for that?

Where would I got to get a nautical chart of the area?

Thanks!

There is a marine supply store downtown at the main dock in Beaufort that will carry charts and other boat stuff(Walmart may beat their prices). The rivers around that area are spread out in all directions and you'll definitely need a chart. Everything in that area is so spread out that you may not see all that many other recreational boaters in a group together, but they're out there, probably fishing. If you're looking for lots of people and boats then head down river, turn right(South) past Parris Island, hit the IWC that runs behind Hilton Head Island...lots of folks down there!
It's a beautiful area! Good Luck!

Maybe one day drag your boat up to the Highway 17/Edisto River boat ramp, brackish/tidal river, really beautiful area, lots of wildlife, good for a day's worth of cruising/picniking with family. Check it out!

A lot to do there
They have a festival there in the summer great time and something going on all year

You have Hilton Head, Charleston, and Savannah, not to mention even more

It is a boaters dream
Oh we also have Shagging

We just returned from boating around Hilton Head for a week of vacation. Definitely lots of recreational boaters there. Through google searches I found out about the Bluffton or May River sandbar. It is located on May River very close to Bluffton. We went for low tide Sunday afternoon and it was packed with folks. Went back low tide on Monday and Wednesday and almost had the sandbar to ourselves (one other boat each time). We also visited several marinas on HHI for shopping and dining. Harbourmasters at each were very friendly and pointed us to temporary dockage we could use for a few hours.
