I am replacing the fuel pump on my 1989 70 - the oil line on original VRO2 pump has been capped off for years, and I am suspicious of diaphragm problems, so I have acquired the non-VRO pump, p/n 438559, based on advice from this forum. I have some questions as I start to tear into the job:
- is there a way to re-use the original VRO2 pump mount, that bolts to the intake manifold? Otherwise it looks like I'll need to fabricate a mount, as the new pump is quite different.
- what do I do with the electrical connection from the old pump - just tape it up and leave it? Or do I need to jump something to keep the alarm from going off?
- is the pulse hose just a regular piece of 5/16 fuel line? Or is it something extra-rigid to keep from collapsing under the vacuum?
- do I need to remove the pulse limiter fitting? I understand that I don't really need it with the non-VRO pump, but will it do any harm?
Thanks for input from people who have done this before.
