Mounting an old downrigger?

My neighbor was discarding four of these and I asked if I could have them. So, now that I have them, I don't see any mounts that seem to fit these. Does anyone know what type these are and how they are supposed to be mounted? Are there bases sold for these anywhere?

They look home made as the mount will need to be. Use a recessed rod holder style with the center sized for the downrigger.

I agree they are home made.

A bracket could be made quite easily if you have access to a drill press, metal saw and taps.

If you run a board(2x6 or 2x8 pressure treated) across the boat somewhere they could be mounted to that somehow. Or as mentioned above some kind of recessed rod holder.

Why don't you ask your neighbour how he had them mounted. Just make sure they are mounted very solid. I have heard a few stories of downriggers being lost overboard.
