A little advise please. I buying a 125 HP 2 stroke Merc with controls from a private seller.(replacing my blown 115 Merc) Can I mount this on my own. What can I use to lift this onto my transom? I'm trying to save a buck and do it myself. Is this a mistake
Thanks
Stoked

Re: mounting a new motor

You will need some sort of lifting device, Preferrably an engine hoist. There is a special lifting eye that threads into the top of the flywheel that too. Other than being really heavy there's nothing all that difficult about mounting the motor though. Be sure to use lots of silicone on the mounting bolts. There is an installation manual that comes in the box with every new Merc. Maybe the seller still has this. It has lots of good info. in it. If possible have a close look at the instruction on mounting the steering link. Make sure you get the steering link with the new motor it is probably different than your old one.
