I have a Mercury 50hp 2 stroke that you have to tilt by hand. I also have a not running Mercury 50hp 2 stroke (identical to each other), that has a power trim. Can they be swapped so I can have power trim? I know how to remove the lower mounts, but have no clue on the upper.

What years are the Engines? For Years the Power Trim System was an Accessory that could be easily removed and installed

I have to ask this: Are the Engines actual Mercury Engines, or one of those 'Force by Mercury' engines?

If there are identical, I would expect that you would be able to swap the PTT units, without removing the top (or bottom) motor mounts. If not, the motors are not identical, and I would suggest you post some pictures.

looks like the SN on one is DC133106, the other is missing. They are both Classic Fifty. Can get pics if needed. Can the hinge where the steering cable goes thru or tilts be removed?

The tilt tube is simply a piece of threaded pipe. It is removeable, as are the two transom clamp brackets. PTTs changed over the years, so it is hard to know what you have.

I was unable to find serial number DC133106. Serial numbers usually start with a single letter or no letter at all and just have numbers.

A serial number beginning with D or C would be a 3-cylinder 50HP model, 1990 or newer.

I presume you have the 4-cylinder model. The 4-cylinder models have numeric serial numbers but start at 1552535 for a 1964 model and go up from there, for the newer models.

0C133106 is SN. Swapping power heads may be the way to go. Will have check out lower units first. I know the one with power trim, has been on a trailer for a few years, the other has been in the water.

That system needs to be bled! Doesn't anyone paint those parts before installing them? The lower cylinders use longer rubber bushings that might be still available from a Mercury dealer.
