Hello again,

Does it ever end?

I have a 47#, 12V, MotorGuide bow mounted trolling motor with a foot control. I can get the model number if I need to. It's the older style controller. (This is the first time I've put up an image. Let's see how this works.)

This image is one that I stole off eBay but it's just like mine. I don't have the hand control.

We were out the other day in a pretty good wind on a bay of Lake Michigan. It was rolling pretty good and the motor would only run full speed and the On/Off switch seemed to have a mind of its own. Sometimes it would go on and off for no reason. Sometimes we couldn't get it to go on or off.

We thought it might be the waves, so we took out and headed over to an inland lake and it did the same thing there.

I looked inside the bottom of the controller and it looks pretty sealed up.

Question:

Can these be repaired?

Can you get new ones?

Where?

How much?

Thanks.

Norm Fred

Re: MotorGuide Digital Foot Control Failure

Good news. My brother-in-law took the whole thing apart and cleaned out the dirt and corrosion from inside it and now it works aok. Someday, it will fail and he won't be able to fix it again. When that happens, I'll be back.

Norm
