Hey All. Read through a bunch of posts and finally decided to just ask for help.
I've got a MG 750 12/24 45# was working fine this weekend (no real problems in the past) then just stopped working in 24volt mode. It was really windy so the motor was continually working but again that isn't unusual. It works in 12v mode. I've checked connections and fuses but don't know where else to check for troubleshooting. Also, as luck would have it, when I was pulling the foot pedal out of my recessed tray the steering cable broke. So I need some advice.
First how should I go about trouble shooting the 24v issue?
Second, whats involved in replacing the steering cable?
Third, would it be easier to buy a new motor?
I saw that Bass Pro has a Prowler 55# 12V model available for under $300. I think its a rebranded motorguide.
Could I still take advantage of my two batteries or do I need to step up to the 24v model?

Thanks in advance.
Scott

If a 45# model performed ok for you a 12 volt, 55# would perform better. Yes, you can use both batteries but they would need to be changed from series wired to parallel wired. If the motor works on 12 volts but not 24 check the red wire and the fuse or circuit breaker on the battery that red wire is connected to. You might even check the condition of that battery. If it went bad, you do not get 24 volts to the motor but 12 volts from the other one would run it on 12 volts.

Silvertip I don't know how you do it. How you keep up with the hundreds of posts, and figure all this out is beyond me. I guess my wife is right, I'm old crappy and stupid. While I had checked the fuses I had forgotten there was a circuit breaker hiding under the terminal cover..duh. So I've got 24v back. I'm curious why that tripped? Is it a sign of things to come?

Now, about fixin the steering cable? What's involved?

Hi,

I have another electrical/similar question about the 24. I have constant on power when I flip the switch to 24. I cannot get intermittent power on the 24 no matter how I switch the wires. The white 12v wire works as it should. Any suggestions on resolving this would be appreciated thanks.

You cannot run constantantly and intermittently at the same time. Think about it. Constant means ALL THE TIME. Intermittent means ONCE IN AWHILE or whenever you step on the GO button.

I like that bat guy...and yes I know you can't do both at the same time. I flip the side foot switch to 12v, push the peddle it goes. I flip the switch to 24v and it runs immediately. I don't have the opportunity to push the foot peddle. Something weird about the red wire but I can't figure it out.
