Im trying to figure out what motor I have a cobra or a king cobra ? numbers on motor is 504FTHCOM. Also does anyone know where I can get a manual for a older boat? thanks for your time and help..

The Cobras didn't appear until late 86 or so and later
Your "numbers" indicate that it is a around a 1985 model year engine and drive....Although you might not have the numbers correct.
Go to
http://epc.brp.com enter the site. (you can leave the email field blank)
Select "Stern Drive" and go down to 1985 or so, select 5.0L and find your exact model number.
It doesn't appear that you have a Cobra at all. You may have the following model.
504FTHRCOM 1985 I am not all that familiar with them but I think you have an OMC "Stringer" behind a 5.0L engine
