Hello, I just replaced my rectifier/regulator. I started the motor (Johnson 1989 200 HP, everything worked, when I went to turn the motor off, it just kept running. Any ideas what may be happening and how to fix it? Thanks.

black wire with yellow tracer is the kill wire, did you remove it and forget to put it back on, or put it in the wrong place.

Re: Motor won't turn off

There will be Blk/yel wires going to the powerpacks from the terminal strip, but there will ALSO be a blk/yel wire from the engine harness that needs to be connected to the terminal strip, too. That blk/yel from the engine harness eventually goes up to the key switch, which grounds it when the switch is in the off position.
My bet is you have left a wire off.
Try grounding the terminal with the black/yel wires on it at the strip. The engine will kill immediately if you have the pack side wired properly.
