Motor won't start

I have a late 90's 2 stroke Nissan Motor that turns over, but won't start. It ran fine 8 months ago, but I haven't run it since. Before I ran it I put in new fuel, but it just turns over and doesn't sound like it even trying to fire. I checked the fuel filter and it looks to be working fine. I pulled out a spark plug and it looked a little greasy, not sure if it has anything to do with that or not. Any ideas?

I just put in new spark plugs and it still won't fire. Even if I spay starting fluid in the carb.

Starting fluid is a very bad thing to use you can try premixed fuel instead you need to check your compression and see if you are getting any spark? good luck

What model motor is this? It sounds like you possibly have an ignition problem. I trust you confirmed that the stop lanyard clip is attached.

I took out the spark plugs and grounded them to the engine and saw no spark. What is a lanyard clip?

Go to the Engine FAQs Forum, Dave. Do "Outboard won't start" and let us know what you find.
