Hi everyone me again. Still doing the motor swap on a 94 Bayliner rendezvous. I'm at the point to start the boat. It started but then it would not shut off. I don't know what to do I've put every wire where it went to or is supposed to go to. My wife had broke the key off in the ignition but we got all the pieces out and a new key made. When I went to turn the ignition switch to of the boat did nothing. The new key doesn't fit the greatest and was wondering if it was an ignition issue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

We need to know what your working on and in most all cases it makes no difference what the boat type is.

Your posting in Electrical which makes it even worst. If it was in Merc, VP or OMC at least we would have a hint

Ah come on,
Is it a 4, 6 or 8 cylinder, carb, efi ?

WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT EXACTLY YOUR WORKING ON

Serial numbers are best because then we hardly ever have a question later

It's a 3.0 lx carbureted digital ignition. I've had one hell of a time and I'm sorry for not really listening or thinking. Every turn has been an issue. I turn the key to start and it starts, but when I turn the key to off it stays running. I don't know what else to say. The motor is used but I just used it for the long block. Everything was changed over the valve cover the manifold intake the carb wiring everything and put where it is supposed to go.

Being a 1994 it wouldn't have a TKS carb so the issue with these carbs running on after key off should not be the issue

It should have a Merc carb, so I would say, turn key to ON then measure voltage on the positive side of the coil. Don't start

Now turn key OFF and label all wires and their key terminal locations on the key switch, then remove all of the wires from switch

All wires removed, measure power at the positive side of the coil again
